Negative Mindset? Shift Accordingly
This thought came to me as I was preparing for my day. I made a conscious decision after prayer to not watch the news as I had done the day before.
I noticed watching the news had put me in an unhealthy mindset. The news reminded me of the uncertainty that greets us every morning, the pain of significant loss, and the challenges still ahead. These overwhelming thoughts were not only stressful, they were paralyzing.
I AM NOT SHIELDED FROM PERSONAL CHALLENGES
Even as a mental health professional, I am affected by the happenings of the world and NOT shielded from personal challenges. Fortunately, after I recognized this STINKING THINKING, I was able to intentionally seek ways to shift to a more positive mindset. Honestly, I have to tell you it was a difficult shift. I had to consciously find and do things that made me feel positive, which is sometimes easier said than done.
BE MINDFUL OF “STINKING THINKING”
I share this with you because I know that we are all going through a difficult time, but we also have to be mindful of how we are going through it. If you notice that you are experiencing “stinking thinking” and have developed a negative mindset, do what you can to freshen up your thoughts and shift to a positive mindset.
